A 34-year-old man was killed in a hit-and-run Sunday just after midnight.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the victim was walking across Edison Highway, west of Exchange Street when he walked directly into the path of a 2007 Chevrolet driven by 25-year-old Jonathan Lopez. The victim suffered deadly injuries as a result of the crash.
Lopez then fled the scene of the accident but was found less than a mile away from the scene of the accident. It was determined that Lopez was under the influence of alcohol and was arrested for DUI and felony hit-and-run.
The accident is still under investigation. The name of the victim has not been released pending notification of family.
