BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The California Highway Patrol is investigating a vehicle versus pedestrian crash in East Bakersfield.

According to the CHP, it happened on Eucalyptus Drive and Stephen Kelly Lane shortly after 7 p.m.

Officials said a man in a wheelchair was crossing the street outside of a crosswalk when he was hit.

The man in the wheelchair was transported to an area hospital with major injuries.

The driver remained on scene and is cooperating with investigators. This investigation is ongoing.
