Kern County Fire Department and California Highway Patrol responded to a crash Thursday night on Washington Street just south of Virginia Avenue where a car hit a pedestrian. Officials said the crash happened just before 10 p.m..
According to a CHP press release, a 72-year-old man from Arvin was hit and killed after being struck by a 2002 GMC Yukon Thursday evening. The released shows the man, who's identity has yet to be released, was walking within the southbound lane of Washington Street when the SUV, which was driving southbound on Washington Street, hit him. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
The release also shows the 32-year-old woman was driving the SUV was not injured in the crash.
