Kern County Sheriff's Office deputies and search and rescue crews responded to a report of a person in the Kern River on Tuesday night.

According to the KCSO, it received a report of a possible person in the water about 5:15 Tuesday evening. Officials said that KCSO deputies and search and rescue searched for a 30-year-old man who is from the Los Angeles area. Authorities said the man was not wearing a life jacket. The man was with a friend who called the authorities.

The search was about a 1/2 mile into the canyon and will resume Wednesday morning.
