Homeless initiative in California

Posted

State lawmakers are tackling the issue of homelessness with a two billion dollar plan.

A group of state senators introduced an initiative yesterday to prevent and address homelessness on Skid Row in Los Angeles.

The proposal would re-purpose bond money from Proposition 63. Two billion dollars would be allocated to permanent housing for the homeless.

If lawmakers are able to pass their initiative by the end of this legislative session funding for new housing units could be ready by this time next year.
