A local philanthropist and former California State University Bakersfield softball player donated $170,000 to the university’s softball complex.

The money from Shelly Carlin will be used to create new dugouts for the stadium.

The past year was CSUB’s best softball season in the school’s history and included a trip to the NCAA Division I Regional Tournament.
