The California State University system says it won't increase tuition for the 2021-2022 academic year.
Chancellor Joseph Castro said at meeting of the board of trustees that Governor Gavin Newsom budget proposal as well as cost-cutting efforts throughout the system led to the decision. The Chancellor also mentioned that he does not predict a system-wide furlough program for employees.
In a message to students, CSUB president Lynnette Zelezny announced that students will be receiving additional funding from the federal government, similar to the CARES act assistance that was given out last spring. The university is still working out the details of the distribution.
