California Virtual Academies @ Maricopa students help "Give a Hug" to benefit cancer patients

Posted
When you're a child and are sick or not feeling well, sometimes cuddling a teddy bear can make all the difference. That is why today students with the California Virtual Academies @ Maricopa will be collecting new and gently used teddy bears.

Donate at Grace Baptist Church at 2550 Jewetta Avenue on Thursday, November 17 from 1:00-2:00 p.m.

Gathered teddy bears will be tagged with information about patient service programs available by the American Cancer Society and distributed to patients undergoing treatment in order to provide comfort and support.

The "Give a Hug" teddy bear drive is one of many ways that students with the California Virtual Academies @ Maricopa give back to the community. Regularly the full-time, online public charter school provides students the chance to participate in community service opportunities.
