The Department of Transportation is advising drivers about a full closure of highway 43 at 119 starting after May 29 in Kern County.

According to Caltrans, the upcoming closure is due to construction on the 119 and 43 roundabout project.

The department says SR 43 will be closed between Raceway Boulevard and highway 119. This closure will be in effect into September of 2019.

Caltrans says there will be posted detours and signage indicating the closure in both directions.

This project was initially scheduled for Thursday but has been postponed due to weather and the upcoming holiday weekend.
