BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — UPDATE:
On Monday, A Caltrans representative told 23ABC that the upcoming traffic switch and 55-day closure of 99 off-ramp, originally scheduled to start on August 21 have been delayed.
Officials have yet to disclose the new start date for the project but 23ABC will share that information as soon as we learn more.
Caltrans has announced a traffic switch on Northbound 99 starting August 21 as part of the Bakersfield 99 Rehab Project.
According to a news release, this switch will be followed by a 55-day closure of the Northbound 99 off-ramp to 24th Street (Rosedale Highway) and the Northbound 99 on-ramp from Buck Owens Boulevard starting August 26 for to construction on an auxiliary lane at the 24th Street off-ramp.
Caltrans said the closures below will be in effect during their respective dates:
- Traffic on Northbound State Route 99 will utilize the #1 and #2 (left two) lanes starting Wednesday, August 21. The traffic flow can be seen in the graphic on page two.
- The Northbound State Route 99 off-ramp to 24th Street (Rosedale Highway) will be closed for 55 days beginning Monday, August 26.
Officials said the posted detour will utilize the Buck Owens Boulevard exit where traffic can return south on Buck Owens to 24th Street (Rosedale Highway) as well as the California Avenue exit where traffic can go north on Oak Street to 24th Street (Rosedale Highway).
