Officials were searching for a Hispanic man who they said jumped out of a stolen car once it crashed in Central Bakersfield.

Officer Youngblood with the Bakersfield Police Department said that an officer was working on a stolen vehicle when someone driving by said they were following another stolen vehicle.

Youngblood said that the officer spotted the suspected stolen vehicle near HWY 99 and 24th Street.

The man driving the vehicle crashed at Myrtle and Beech streets and took off and hid in a nearby yard.

Officers deployed a K9 unit and the man was quickly taken into custody.
