and last updated

Pacific Gas & Electric is working to restore power to thousands of customers in downtown Bakersfield.

Just before 1 a.m. the Bakersfield Police Department reported a car crashed into a power pole in the area of H Street and Cherry Street. That caused a down power line.

The outage is impacting nearly 3,000 PG&E customers. The area stretches as far north as Truxtun Avenue to as far south as Townsley Avenue and as far west as Oleander Avenue to as far west as T Street.

PG&E says power should be restored by 2:45 a.m.
