Car crashes into traffic pole, catches fire in East Bakersfield

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — A driver walked away with minor injuries after their car crashed into a traffic pole and caught fire in East Bakersfield.

It happened around 8 a.m. at Mount Vernon Avenue and Virginia Avenue in East Bakersfield. According to the CHP Traffic Incident Information Page, the car crashed into a traffic pole then caught fire. The driver was initially pinned into the car.

The Kern County Fire Department and CHP were able to free the driver. The driver sustained minor injuries.
