SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Two California Highway Patrol officers were injured after a car involved in a high-speed chase struck them in the Solana Beach area.

Authorities in Orange County said deputies responded to a possible road rage incident at a Laguna Hills gas station at around 12:20 a.m. Thursday.

As deputies arrived, the driver, identified as Frankie John Arellano Garduno, 29, fled the scene in a Dodge Charger.

Authorities followed the Charger as it traveled south on Interstate 5 into San Diego County, eventually making its way into Solana Beach.

On Loma Santa Fe Drive, two CHP officers who were reportedly laying down spike strips were struck by the Charger.

Shots were reportedly fired during the incident, but the suspect wasn't hit.

The officers suffered non-life threatening injuries and were treated at a local hospital.

The Charger was found abandoned several blocks away on La Floresta.

Authorities located the driver a short distance from the car and took him into custody without incident.
