Car theft suspect arrested after leading deputies on high-speed chase in stolen vehicle

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Officials have arrested a 31-year-old man after he led deputies on a chase following a car theft.

Delano and Wasco substation deputies said on Tuesday around 6:30 a.m. they responded to a call about a stolen car that was taken from a business located on McCombs Road. Shortly after, deputies located Miguel Gil Torres who driving the stolen car. Torres failed to stop before leading deputies on a high-speed chase in Wasco.

Deputies discontinued the pursuit but continued to search for the stolen car which they found parked in an orchard near Jackson Avenue and Kyte Avenue.

Torres was found inside the stolen car and was arrested without incident. He was booked into jail for vehicle theft, possession of a stolen vehicle, and evading a peace officer.
