We are following breaking news out of a Tehachapi where the California Highway Patrol has confirmed that a cargo train has derailed.

The cargo train derailment happened on Broom Rd. and Woodford Tehachapi Rd. at around 1:00 a.m. Friday. According to the California Highway Patrol, five train cars have derailed.

The Kern County Fire Department is on the scene while the Kern County Sheriff's Office has been notified. No hazardous material was in any of the train cars that derailed, according to CHP.

No injuries were reported and no roads are blocked at this time.

The cause of the derailment is under investigation.
