UPDATE (9/1 4:30 p.m.) -- Cataldo's Pizzeria was reopened Thursday afternoon after being closed due to improper refrigerator temperatures. The pizzeria reopened with a score of 87 points.

The Kern Public Health Department has closed Cataldo's Pizzeria in Southwest Bakersfield.

The inspector observed potentially hazardous foods inside refrigeration unit with temperatures above 46 degrees. The refrigeration unit also had a lack of lighting.

Management voluntarily condemned bags of pepperoni, two gallons of ranch dressing, cubed cheese and more.

There was also grease buildup behind the pizza oven and side of fryer. The facility also failed to demonstrate the basic food safety principles.
