The Center for Disease control and public health and regulatory officials in several states are investigating a multi state outbreak of Salmonella infections linked to raw turkey products.
The CDC has reported 164 cases from 35 states associated with the outbreak, with one death coming from California.
At this time, one food item has not been identified, however interviews indicate that those who are ill commonly reported different types and brands of turkey products including raw turkey pet food, according to Kern Public Health.
CDC and USDA are investigating and CDC will continue to provide updates as needed.
At this time there have not been any product recalls and consumers should not avoid eating properly cooked turkey products.
According to the Kern County Public Health department, they do not have any cases of salmonella or deaths that are linked to the outbreak.
