They inspire, support and cultivate children's curiosity in the classroom. Teachers mold kids into who they will become in the real world.

For all that they do, May 3rd, 2016 is National Teacher Appreciation Day.

The age old gift of an apple, has now been turned into gift cards, nice candles, or even a picture of a student with their beloved teacher.

Many kids now are turning to social media, using #ThankaTeacher. The National Education Association says some teachers will never know how much of a difference they have made in their students' lives.

So today, students are reminded to say "Thank you" to those teachers who spend endless hours grading homework, projects and planning their next lesson.
