2 candidates named for vacant Assembly seat

SACRAMENTO - Governor Jerry Brown has scheduled a special election during the spring to fill a vacant Central Valley seat in the State Assembly.

The vacancy was created after Fresno lawmaker Henry Perea resigned last month with a year left on his term.

The election will be held on April 5th and a special runoff election is set for June 7th if no candidate wins majority.

According to KFSN in Fresno, two candidates have filed paperwork to run for the position. Republican Clint Olivier, who serves on the Fresno City Council, and Democrat Joaquin Arambula, who is a physician in Fresno, are the only candidates to file.
