BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Kern County has seen several winter storms bringing rain and snow over the past few weeks.
Experts say checking the tread on your tires could prevent hydroplaning or sliding on black ice. Experts say new tires usually have 10/32ND'S of an inch of tread. If a tire has 2/32ND'S of an inch, it's time to replace that tire.
They say if a driver is caught hydroplaning or sliding on black ice, to not slam on the breaks and instead reduce speed and turn the wheel in the direction the vehicle is turning before pumping the breaks.
