CHP's traffic website reported a car hitting a child Saturday evening in Lamont.
The website said the incident happened around 6:30 p.m. Saturday near Lowe and Center Streets. CHP said the child is suffering from major injuries and is now recovering in the hospital.
The name or age of the child has not yet been released. CHP has not released any information about the driver of the car.
