UPDATE (12/7/17 8:22 a.m.): The Kern County Coroner's Office has identified the 5-year-old hit and killed on Wednesday as Emily Guillen-Casillas.
Emily was hit by a car in the area of Harris Road and California Springs Drive.

UPDATE (12/6/17 7:32 p.m.) According to the Bakersfield Police Department, a 5-year-old girl has died after being hit by a car earlier Wednesday near California Springs and Harris Road. The women who also was hit is being treated for severe injuries and is currently in critical condition.

A child and a woman suffered non-life threatening injuries after they were hit by a car near Bill Williams Elementary on Wednesday afternoon.
According to Bakersfield Police, a car heading northbound on California Spring Drive near Harris Road was trying to avoid a collision when it swerved and hit a woman and child around 1:30 p.m.
Police say the car hit the woman and child then hit a power pole. The pole then landed on the woman's leg.
Both suffered moderate, non-life threatening injuries.
