BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — An organization celebrated its 25 years of helping children in need through a special fundraiser in March.

The Children to Love 25th anniversary dinner was held at Olive Knolls Church and included an auction and market, dinner and special program.

Organizers said Children to Love, International was created when members of Laurelglen Bible Church in Bakersfield visited Romania and saw the conditions some children faced.

According to the organization, their mission is to care for orphaned, abandoned and at-risk children. Through education, spiritual teaching, economic support, physical assistance and social intervention, they seek to equip all children to become independent, contributing members of their communities and followers of Jesus Christ.

"Some of the children, well they are not children anymore, some of the folks who were there 25 years ago, will be here tonight. They're married, they have kids and they are thriving as people. Much of it attributable to Children to Love." said John Penrose with Children To Love International said at the event.

The organization has expanded across the country and around the world reaching those in need in Romania, India, Uganda and Ukraine.

The dinner was a time for organizers to update supporters on what was happening with the organization.
