One person was killed in a crash in the Kern River Canyon Saturday evening, according to the California Highway Patrol.

A car and a motorcycle were involved in a head on collision around 6:15 p.m. on Highway 178, west of Democrat Road. The rider of the motorcycle was killed and has been identified as 36-year-old Kenneth Wayne Seay Jr. of Bakersfield.

The driver of the other car, a Toyota, has been identified by CHP as 66-year-old Cynthia Hill of Lake Isabella. Hill was taken to Kern Medical after the crash.

CHP said they believe the motorcycle rider appeared to have been under the influence of drugs and alcohol.
