BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Shortly after 2 a.m. Sunday morning, California Highway Patrol officers said they responded to calls of a man down in the roadway on Edison Highway just East of the Mount Vernon over-crossing.
CHP said the man was crossing the road heading north when a truck traveling westbound on Edison Highway hit him.
According to CHP, the pedestrian was under the influence of alcohol and he was eventually taken to a local hospital for moderate injuries.
CHP said the driver was fully cooperative and stayed on scene.
