On October 21, 2018 at approximately 6:30 p.m., 32-year-old Candelaria De La Rosa was driving a 2006 Ford F-150 Pickup truck southbound on Jacks Hill Road, just south of Wapiti Court in an unincorporated area of Kern County, within the community of Stallion Springs.
According to police, while driving down a left hand curve on the roadway, De La Rosa allowed the vehicle to leave the roadway and drift onto the west dirt shoulder. After losing control of her vehicle, she collided with a wooden power pole on the east dirt shoulder.
Her vehicle continued to travel southbound before sticking a large brick pillar and then came to a rest on its wheels on the east dirt shoulders. According to police, two juveniles who were traveling in the bed of the pickup were ejected and received major injuries. They were both life flighted to Madera Children's Hospital. A third juvenile was traveling unrestrained in the rear seat of the pickup and received moderate injuries.
De La Rosa was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and was booked into the Kern County Jail
The collision remains under investigation at this time.
