The California Highway Patrol says a Kern County Marine was a pedestrian in the No. 3 lane of Interstate 5 in San Diego when he was hit and killed in June.

The CHP says 23-year-old George Daniel Galvan was hit at 4:19 a.m. on June 30.

The CHP says the vehicle that hit him was going 65 miles per hour.

Galvan, who was born and raised in Bakersfield, attended Mira Monte High School.

Galvan's family says he was just days away from being married and was expecting his first born in November.

The CHP says a final report should be coming out soon.

Officer Latulippe with the San Diego County CHP's office said, "There's still a lot of unknowns right now."
