CHP: Officials find 33-year-old woman intoxicated, passed out in her car with kid in backseat

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — A 33-year-old woman has been charged with willful cruelty to a child and DUI after she was found parked outside of a Fastrip, passed out, with a kid in the backseat.

According to court records, on Thursday evening around 6 p.m., CHP officials were initially called out to 219 Harrison Street for reports of a woman passed out behind the wheel of a car. Shortly after, officials found Brandy Nichole Naff in the parking lot of a nearby Fastrip.

According to officials on scene, Naff was passed out in the car, engine running, with a child asleep in the back seat.

Once Naff was detained, officials allegedly observed that Naff smelled of alcohol and her eyes were red and watery. During a search, officials found an empty bottle of Fireball Whiskey in the front seat of her car. Officials also obtained surveillance video from Fastrip of her driving into the parking lot and hitting a concrete barrier.

Naff reportedly refused to take any alcohol sobriety and chemical tests and was arrested without incident.

Officials said the child found in her car was taken by Child Protective Services.

Naff is scheduled to appear in court for willful cruelty to a child and Driving under the influence on September 9.
