On Sunday around 2:30 a.m. 22-year-old Maya Ramiro of Delano was driving westbound on Highway 46 approaching Rowlee Road at an unknown rate of speed.

A 62-year-old man was driving westbound on Highway 46 directly ahead of Ramiro at a slower rate of speed.

As Ramiro approached the rear of the 62-year-old man's car, Ramiro failed to stop or slow down and collided into the rear of the 62-year-old man's vehicle.

The impact caused the 62-year-old man to lose control of the vehicle and careen onto the north dirt shoulder of Highway 46. The left side of his vehicle collided into a power pole.

The 62-year-old man died from his injuries.

Ramiro was uninjured. Drugs and alcohol were determined to be primary factors in this collision.

Ramiro was arrested.

The identity of the man who died has not been released.
