62-year-old man dead after early morning crash, 22-year-old Delano man arrested

On Sunday around 2:30 a.m. 22-year-old Maya Ramiro of Delano was driving westbound on Highway 46 approaching Rowlee Road at an unknown rate of speed. 

A 62-year-old man was driving westbound on Highway 46 directly ahead of Ramiro at a slower rate of speed. 

As Ramiro approached the rear of the 62-year-old man's car, Ramiro failed to stop or slow down and collided into the rear of the 62-year-old man's vehicle. 

The impact caused the 62-year-old man to lose control of the vehicle and careen onto the north dirt shoulder of Highway 46. The left side of his vehicle collided into a power pole. 

The 62-year-old man died from his injuries. 

Ramiro was uninjured. Drugs and alcohol were determined to be primary factors in this collision. 

Ramiro was arrested. 

The identity of the man who died has not been released.

The California Highway Patrol is on scene of a deadly crash in Wasco. 

It happened just before 2:30 a.m. on Highway 46 and Rowlee Road. According to the CHP page, two vehicles collided. 

One of the cars hit a power pole so power lines are down in the roadway. 

No word on how many people were involved in this crash. We have a news crew on the way and will have more information as soon as we get more information.
