For a short time on Friday, California Highway Patrol officials closed off Northbound 99 and California Ave. near the Palm St. overpass due to police activity in the area.
CHP officials reported a jumper was in the area and was hit by a car.
It's been confirmed that the jumper died.
A witness told 23ABC that she saw the man sitting on top of a rail and told her to have a nice day.
The witness added that she heard a screech and ran back. But didn't see the man jump.
All lanes were reopened later in the afternoon.
This was the second time this month someone has jumped off a highway 99 overpass, creating hours worth of traffic and headaches for commuters.
Drivers told 23ABC that they don't think more protection on overpasses will deter people from jumping off.
The man who jumped off this overpass has not been identified.
