BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — CHP confirms that students suffered minor injuries after a school bus crash in downtown Bakersfield.
According to CHP, the crash happened before 8:30 a.m. on 17th Street and Chester Avenue in downtown Bakersfield. CHP says the bus was traveling down Chester Avenue on its way to Franklin Elementary School and had a green light when a car traveling down 17th Street crashed into the bus.
CHP says 40 to 50 students were on-board the bus at the time of the crash. 11 students suffered minor injuries in the crash. 7 of them were transported to the hospital.
The driver of the vehicle is cooperating with the investigation. At this time, it is unknown if the vehicle ran a red light.
