Memorial Day kicks off the summer season and a record number of travelers are expected to hit the road this weekend.

The California Highway Patrol expects traffic to pick up, which is why they partnered with Frontier High School to introduce their Impact Teen Driver Program.

"This is so relevant to our seniors as we go into the Memorial Day weekend, it’s the highest traffic day, so they're going to be driving and we just want them to realize this is a busy weekend," said Lisa Bolton, Activities Director at Frontier High School.

With more than 30 million drivers expected to be on the roads, CHP says their doing all they can to prevent accidents.

"This program deals with distracted or wreckless driving amongst young people and so we are raising awareness of the dangers,” said Officer Robert Rodriguez.
