BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Fire officials said that they are looking into a number of fires that erupted Thursday night on the 4th of July. The investigations could take a while to determine if they were due to illegal fireworks.

A house fire broke out on Pyramid Peak Drive off Mountain Vista and White Lane. Witnesses said that the family was home at the time when a neighbor saw the fence on fire. It reportedly fell over possibly hitting a gas line.

City fire crews arrived as the flames were shooting out of the roof. We have no reports of any injuries or property loss.

Meantime, both city and county fire crews responded to a fire just after 10:30 on Goodman Street. When they arrived they found the home completely in flames. However, since it was the Fourth of July, they say they were more than prepared to tackle the issue.

The fire was contained quickly and there were no reported injuries.
