The city of Bakersfield has launched a program designed to pick up human excrement.

The city of Bakersfield officially announced Monday that it has contracted with a private cleaning service firm to remove human excrement from sidewalks, storefronts and other places in the Downtown Bakersfield and Old Town Kern areas.

The services will be available on a first call first serve basis. Cleanup will be available from 6:30-10:30 a.m. Monday through Friday.
