BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The city of Bakersfield is introducing a monthly newsletter to track the progress of the use of funds from the Measure N one-cent sales tax increase.
In this month's newsletter, the city reports that $900,000 has been allocated to help update the Bakersfield Police Department's firearms range near Truxtun Avenue and Oak Street. The funding was also used to help the Recreation and Parks Department add six new employees dedicated to responding quickly to issues like broken equipment and vandalism in local parks.
In next month's issue, the city plans to give an update on economic development and enhancing the fire departments response.
