MCFARLAND, Calif. — The City of McFarland is moving forward in its search for a city manager and the decision will be announced Thursday night.

According to the McFarland city clerk the city council is set to discuss the position and make a decision during a closed session of Thursday night's meeting.

The position became vacant after Interim City Manager Larry Pennell submitted his letter of resignation last month due to health issues. He was brought on after the resignation of David Tooley.

Tooley was named interim city manager after the disappearance and death of former McFarland City Manager John Wooner last year.

The McFarland City Council will also appoint Police Chief Janet Davis as the new interim assistant city manager.

The meeting started at 6 p.m.
