BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — For those impacted most by the shifted economy, CityServe-resourced churches in Kern County are doing their part to participate in the distribution and implementation of the United States Department of Agriculture Farmers to Families Food Box Program.

This program, with the aim of providing fresh and nutritional food to the most vulnerable, will see that churches here in Kern will receive thousands of food boxes in the coming weeks, with the first delivery expected May 21 at the CityServe Kern County HUB, 3201 F St. at 9 a.m.

“There is so much more than food given away when the local church gets involved. It’s a network of caring people,” says Karl Hargestam, CityServe executive director. “We are excited to assist and facilitate the last mile from farmer to family, across the country.”
