Officials have closed a bakery in Lamont after live cockroaches were found crawling over bread.

Officials said that the inspector walking through Angelica's Bakery at 10915 Main St, Lamont, CA 93241 notified an employee to remove the bread and discard it in the trash.

The inspector said that they found multiple generations of roaches on the floor in the preparation area and in employee restrooms.

The inspector said that they would need a licensed pest control team to come out to do a sanitary survey of the facility to abate all roach activity. A Kern County Health Department spokeswoman told 23ABC News on Wednesday the bakery has been in touch with a pest control company.

The health inspector also noted that the food managers certificate had expired on May 11, 2016.

The inspector said that they observed cockroaches crawling on bread that was placed on a preparation table and the inspector notified the employee to remove bread and discard in trash.

The inspector also observed the refrigeration unit that held cakes, pastries, and cheese cake had an ambient temperature of 48 degrees Fahrenheit.
