Collision between a vehicle and pedestrian in Central Bakersfield leaves two injured

On Wednesday, October 17 at about 6:55 p.m. Bakersfield Police officers were sent to the report of a traffic collision near the intersection of "H" and 1st Streets.

According to police, the preliminary investigation revealed a white sedan occupied by an adult woman driver and adult woman passenger that were driving southbound. According to officers, a female pedestrian began causing the intersection while pushing an adult man in a wheelchair in a westerly direction across "H" Street. The driver reportedly failed to see the pedestrians in the roadway and struck them with her vehicle.

The pedestrians both sustained severe injuries from the collision and were transported to an area hospital where they are listed in critical condition, according to police,

The cause of the collision is still under investigation, alcohol, drug use or excessive speed do not appear to be a factor at this point in the investigation.
