Community members hosted a march on Monday night honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on what would have been his 87th birthday.
The theme of the march was “We Must Fulfill the Dream” something that leaders say means there’s still much that need to be done in the fight for racial equality.
Residents of all ages and races marched from the Liberty Bell in downtown to Mount Zion Baptist Church.
Community leaders at the services included Mayor Harvey Hall, activist Dolores Huerta and state assemblyman Rudy Salas.
Although today was a celebration of Dr. King, local activists say there's still work that needs to be done when improving relationships between the community and those that protect and serve.
During the ceremony there was also a collection of money for scholarships that are going to be given out in Dr. King’s honor.
