Dozens in the community are rallying behind a local Kern County Sheriff's deputy battling cancer.
Senior Deputy Jesse Harker is a 12 year veteran of the KCSO. He was recently diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma and is currently undergoing chemotherapy treatment while still trying to maintain active employment.
Now the Peace Officers Research Association of California is collecting for a medical relief fund for Harker and his family. Their goal is $50,000 and so far they have raised just over $3,500.
