School is in full effect and buses are busy picking up and dropping off students, however, it can be dangerous when buses are stopped and cars speed by without respecting the stop sign.
Parents on Brandt Road in Buttonwillow are especially concerned after a driver came close to hitting children.
Leticia Sanchez has two sons that ride the school bus and captured the video of a car speeding by.
“It’s scary because I can lose my child and not just my child, the bus driver is risking her life for my kids,” said Sanchez.
CHP recently conducted a school bus safety operation, cracking down on drivers who pass busses illegally. They gave out tickets to 4 drivers and warnings to others.
CHP say when the red lights are flashing, it is illegal to pass a school bus and cars must stop in both directions until children have safely crossed the road.
