U.S. Congressman David Valadao released the following statement after the House of Representatives adjourned without considering the American Health Care Act of 2017 Friday:

"Our healthcare system is incredibly complex and the surrounding debate is politically charged. I commend both President Trump and Speaker Ryan for their willingness to undertake such a difficult issue. In the coming weeks, I believe Congress must come together to enact legislation to stabilize our healthcare market, reduce federal spending, and ensure we are able to maintain access to healthcare for America’s most vulnerable populations. Any potential solution must be thoughtfully considered. I stand willing and ready to discuss, negotiate, and enact responsible policies for my constituents in California’s Central Valley.”

U.S. Congressman Kevin McCarthy also released a statement:

“Californians deserve a health care system that empowers the patient, is affordable, and stands on the time-tested principle of free market competition. House Republicans have been working toward a solution on these principles that provides relief to the American people from the current health care system that continues to drive up prices and eliminate choice. Unfortunately, enough consensus has not emerged to pass this bill.  I will continue to work on solutions that provide health care relief for our neighbors, stabilizes and strengthens the safety net in our communities, and allows patients more choice and freedom from Washington mandates.”
