Today, Congressman David G. Valadao (CA-21) concluded a congressional delegation visit to the U.S. - Mexico Southwest Border.

Congressman Valadao along with Congressman Rodney Davis (R-IL) and Congressman Jeff Denham (R-CA) traveled to San Ysidro, San DIego and Otay Mesa, California.

According to Valadao's office, the trip focused on conditions at U.S. Detention and Processing Centers, border security infrastructure and potential threats to our southern border. The trip included site visits, briefings and operational demonstrations.

Valadao released a statement about the trip, saying that the challenges and obstacles the southern border faces require a multi-faceted approach.

"There are few things more important than ensuring the safety of children, regardless of which country they hail," Valdao said. “Federal immigration policy has serious consequences for thousands of families especially those here in the Central Valley. It’s critical for Member of Congress to have real, firsthand knowledge of the conditions at our border and the situations our Border Patrol agents face each and every day.”
