Months after he was gunned down while practicing on a softball field, Congressman Steve Scalise made his return to the House to applause and standing ovations from both sides of the aisle.
Kern County Congressman and House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy had a front-row seat to Scalise's speech on Thursday morning.
And, moments after Scalise finished talking, receiving more applause, both McCarthy and fellow Kern County Congressman David Valadao took to social media to welcome him back.
"WELCOME BACK STEVE! #TeamScalise," McCarthy tweeted.
"It's good to have you back, @SteveScalise." Valadao tweeted.
