Some Kern County cooling centers to be open Saturday

KERN COUNTY, Calif. — The Kern County Parks Division with the Department of Aging and Adult Services has opened the following cooling centers for Saturday:

  • East Bakersfield Veterans Building, 2101 Ridge Road
  • The Mission at Kern County, 816 E. 21st St.
  • Rasmussen Senior Center, 115 E. Roberts Lane
  • McFarland Veterans Center, 103 W Sherwood Ave.
  • Walker Senior Center, 505 Sunset Ave.

For the health, safety, and comfort of residents, the Kern County Parks Division and the Department of Aging and Adult Services, will open Cooling Centers throughout Kern County when the temperatures are forecast to surpass certain highs.

The centers are open from 1 to 8 p.m.
