STALLION SPRINGS, Calif. — The Kern County coroner has identified 75-year-old Andree Julia Calkins as the woman found dead in a Stallion Springs home.

Officials say on May 8 around 4:00 p.m., they received information regarding a shooting in the 28200 block of Preakness Drive.

Initial reports said that a Stallion Springs police officer and a Kern County Sheriff’s Office deputy both responded to the home and located a man and Calkins shot inside.

Calkins was pronounced dead at the scene and the man appeared to have a self-inflicted gunshot wound and was taken to Kern Medical where he is currently in critical condition, KCSO said.

A postmortem examination was completed and the cause of death is multiple gunshot wounds and the manner is homicide.

KCSO is still investigating.
