Coroner releases identity of the two victims killed in SE Bakersfield double homicide

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The Kern County coroner has released the identities of two victims from a double homicide that happened in Southeast Bakersfield.

The coroner identified the victims as 30-year-old Emilio Chavez from Los Angeles and 36-year-old Marbeli Garcia from Lamont.

The cause of death for both victims is multiple gunshot wounds and the manner of death is homicide.

The incident happened around 10 p.m. on East Fairview Road and Garber way, according to the Kern County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies said they found a man in the street with multiple gun shot wounds.

KCSO said deputies canvased the area and found a woman with multiple gunshot wounds at Rexland Acres Park.

According to KCSO, there is no suspect information at this time. Officials did say that a white sedan was seen driving away after the shooting.
