Coroner releases name of 31-year-old Los Angeles man found in the Kern River

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The Kern County coroner has released the name of the 31-year-old found dead in the Kern River over the weekend.

Officials said Xavier Americo Jovel Aguilar of Los Angeles body was found in the water near Keyesville on Saturday around 1:40 p.m. KCSO deputies from the Kern Valley substation were called for a report of a man floating in the Kern River. Officials said they located Aguilar about one mile down the river near Wallow Rock. According to KCSO, he was not wearing a flotation device.

The coroner said Aguilar's cause of death is drowning and the manner of death is accident.
